About Automation Committee

PURPOSE: The purpose of the Automation Application and Integration Committee is to convey processes, techniques, and actual case histories that represent creative use of automation tools for civil engineers, placing particular emphasis on topics of interest to more than one civil engineering discipline.

ORGANIZATION: The Committee consists of a Chairperson nominated by the Technical Division Chair and appointed by the Section President.  Other committee offices shall be established and filled by vote of the committee.  Committee membership shall include an unrestricted number of members of the National Capital Section who volunteer to serve on the committee.

ACTIVITIES: In coordination with the Technical Division Chair and other NCS committees, and on matters related to the committee purpose, the activities of the committee include:

  1. Advising the Board of Directors
  2. Conducting information and education programs for civil engineers and the public
  3. Encouraging research and preparation of papers for publication and  presentation
  4. Providing a forum for the presentation of new ideas and the discussion of ideas that would further the overall goals of the  committee
  5. Annual sponsorship of the National Capital Section luncheon

Committee meetings are scheduled as deemed necessary by the Chair.  Its flagship event is the NCS Excellence in Automation Awards ceremony it holds annually in conjunction with George Mason University's ASCE Student Chapter.
