About Programs Committee

 

PURPOSE: To bring members of the Section together regular for education, entertainment and fellowship in  order to keep members informed on current issues In civil Engineering and related fields.

ORGANIZATION: The Committee shall consist of a Chairperson who is responsible for appointing three or four Committee members who are  responsible for the various program and administrative elements necessary for the meetings. The Vice President of the Section is normally assigned this position.

MEETINGS: Meetings are normally held on the second Tuesday of each month, September through May.  The Committee meets prior to September to outline a proposed program for the year and to assign the tasks of contacting prospective speakers and handling other arrangements.

ACTIVITIES: The Chairperson coordinates the year’s program with the Special Events Committee, gains approval from the Board of Directors, and submits a schedule of dates for the NCS Roster.

The Chairperson or Committee members are responsible for: biographical data, and a sentence or two covering the content of talks); arranging for meeting rooms, menu, food and beverage service, and audio-visual equipment; receiving reservations and collecting luncheon fees; coordinating arrangements for the head table  and special guests with the President and Secretary; and furnishing the Section Treasurer a financial statement of receipts and costs following each meeting.
